SENSES NOVELS – FAKE NEWS

It never ceases to amaze me how politicians and the media play with words. Even our President isn’t immune from this disease. The term ‘Fake News’ is one sterling example. Do you know what Fake News is? It means, ‘a lie.’ In this particular case, it means that the news media is reporting lies.

I am just amused that this shocks anyone since it has been going on, all over the world, for as long as I can remember. In the old Soviet Union, the newspaper Pravda was an arm of the communist regime. Their job was to tell the Russian people whatever the communist party wanted them to hear. The word Pravda in Russian means Truth. As any of the citizens that might remember the Soviet Union can tell you, the last thing that Pravda published was the truth.

In the world of the Senses Novels, governments across the world suppress and distort the news as a means of controlling the public. I do draw much of the information in my books from real life.

If all the news you are fed is distorted, how would you know? I am going to give you just one example. The media constantly states that you can buy a gun at a gun show without a background check. I’m sure that you’ve heard that at least once. It is an outright lie. No dealer at any gun show will sell anyone a firearm without going through all of the standard checks that are required from the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.) It.just will.not.happen! The media also reports how you can order your gun online and it will be delivered to you. Another outright lie. Any online sale has to be sent to a Federal Firearms License holder, and then, after they’ve put you through all the background checks, you can have your gun.

One thing that the media cannot stand and will not tolerate is when they are ‘fact checked.’ They will do everything in their power to attack and delegitimize anyone that tries. That is why it is so important for anyone that is the subject of any media lie to immediately file a defamation suit and to keep filing them. Don’t ask for a retraction, don’t ask for an apology, sue them. Eventually, they will get the message and understand that there is a cost for what they are doing.

I have been observing people’s reaction the media of late and have noticed that the vast majority reject most of what they have to say. I am one of those people who get a certain news outlet alerts, but lately, all of the alerts have been ‘analysis’ which are, in reality, attacks on anything or anyone that they disagree with. I’m turning off their alerts and ignoring anything further that they have to report. It doesn’t help to stay informed if your source lies, distorts and withholds the truth.

Every person should be entitled to their opinion. That opinion should never be reported as a news fact.

Have a great weekend.
