Malevolence is defined as 1.wishing evil or harm to another or others; showing ill will; ill-disposed; malicious; 2. evil; harmful; injurious: a malevolent inclination to destroy the happiness of others. To put it succinctly, it is the desire to hurt.
In the books, our heroes are coming face-to-face with a malevolent force that is ancient beyond counting. This entity has already left its mark on the human racial consciousness. IT is the darkness that we seem to instinctively fear.
I based this greatest enemy of humankind not only on satan in the Bible (I do not capitalize that name, sorry) but on the terrifying visions of H.P. Lovecraft and his Great Old Ones. IT is the stuff of nightmares. IT has one goal.
