Happy Birthday USA! This date marks the 243rd birthday of the oldest surviving Democratic Republic on Earth. I don’t care what your political affiliation, if you are a citizen of this country, and you cannot be proud of that, there is something very wrong with you. Men and women have shed their blood and given their lives that this country may continue to exist as ‘One nation under God.’
You may not like it, in fact, you may hate it, if so, I invite you to leave this page immediately and not return. If you are a patriot, I instead ask you to stand for a moment and remember a time when this meant something when you recited it:
I pledge allegiance
to the Flag of the United States of America,
and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God,
indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
Happy Independence Day to all United States of America citizens. May you be blessed in remembering the good that this country has done and continues to do.
