ONE DAY AFTER
As you read through the Senses Novels series, you cannot help but feel the world is in a downward spiral. What is more depressing, and a little frightening is that it appears many of the things I’ve put into the novels have come to pass or are happening now.
Even on Christmas, the leaders of some countries couldn’t stop their sniping. I understand that there are places that don’t celebrate Christmas or have their version of it, but one of the hallmarks of the United States is that we pride ourselves on inclusion. We celebrate with others their holidays; Ramadan, Kwanza, Chinese New Year, and others. But, the rest of the world is so focused on their hate of us it would seem, that they cannot take a day off.
The spiral is perpetuated by this. The U.S. isn’t guiltless. We have those that are intolerant and bigoted, but we, as a whole, don’t embrace those ideals or those people, no matter what the media might want you to believe.
It is unfortunate that in recent years the media itself has become one of the most bigoted groups in America. They are polarized to one extreme or the other, and none deliver objective reporting. This also perpetuates the downward spiral.
Among the worst are also the celebrities. These are people whose only talent is pretending to be other people and yet, their opinions with grave importance. I will never understand this. Some ‘star’ becomes convinced, usually through outside forces, that something is wrong and they use their visible position to preach it to the world. Most haven’t a clue what they are talking about because they haven’t bothered to look at both sides of an issue. This is called ignorance, and it is a major contributor to the spiral.
One day after Christmas the world, including the U.S. seems to be rushing headlong down the spiral to whatever eventual fate awaits us. While it most likely won’t be pretty, it is faith that will win the day.
I hope that you all had a great Christmas and trust that you didn’t forget who it was all about.
