In the novels, we find that the world is brought to its knees through distrust and hate. Does that sound at all familiar to you? The reason that I am writing this blog post is that I just listened to someone say that if you don’t speak out against the hatred, you are part of the problem. This is me speaking out.
We, as a species, have faced bigotry and hatred in every age and every culture. That doesn’t make it right. In fact, it means that we haven’t learned a thing from our mistakes.
There are those that are spewing their hatred at the President of the United States for things that he has said or not said. There are those that are demonstrating or condoning the hatred by marching, by attacking others, by destroying property, or simply by not doing anything at all. That’s right, if you sit back and do nothing, then you are condoning the hate.
Want to hear the names of some hate groups? The Nazi party, they hate Jews, blacks and anyone else that doesn’t agree with them. The white supremacists, they pretty much agree with the Nazi party. Black Lives Matter, they hate the idea that ANYONE else’s lives might matter too. The Ku Klux Klan, I couldn’t even believe that these guys were still around. The Black separatist/nationalist like the Nation of Islam and the New Black Panther Party have preached hatred of white people. The list just goes on and on and on. There are over 300 of these groups in America today!
I am against each and every one of these groups. They are EVIL and destructive to everything that this country stands for. The President said of the march in Charlottesville that maybe both sides were to blame. I am going to disagree with our President on this one. No one told that 20-year old child to drive his car into the crowd of counter-protesters. That makes him a murderer. That isn’t about sides, that is about premeditated murder.
I don’t agree with a lot of things that my friends and family believe. If I did, I would never have become a Christian in the first place. I am going to tell you the secret about hate and bigotry. Are you ready? It’s all about control.
When you are ruled by your hatred, when the bigotry that you learned (it HAS to be learned) is what drives you, you are easy to manipulate. You will vote your emotions, you will pay extra taxes to suppress whoever you hate, you will give up freedoms to allow attacks on those who are different than you. In short, you become an idiot, a robot, an automaton that isn’t thinking, just reacting.
So, I have a solution for you: QUIT.BEING.STUPID. Now, that isn’t going to be easy for some of you, you love your bigotry too much. Your hate comforts you at night. But it is also eating you alive, and you can’t even see it. You believe that your hatred makes you a part of something. It doesn’t, it makes you less than you could be, and it definitely makes you the worst kind of minority on the planet.
To all my friends who are a part of some group that promotes hate in any form, unfriend me on Facebook immediately, do not follow me on Twitter and get off of my Instagram. I don’t want to be infected with your bitterness.
To all of my other friends, family and fans, please take a moment to reflect on your feelings toward people and groups. Ask yourself why you feel ANY animosity toward them at all. I don’t care if we are talking about different races, religions or creeds. Ask why? Ask who gains by what you feel and how you react. Then reach out a hand to those humans, fellow Americans and start creating the bridges we all need.
