THE REALITY INTERSECTION

Many readers of the Senses Novels have commented on the development of the characters. In AURA, the first book of the series, our hero, Jacob is shown from his birth through to the point just before the final conflict is to take place. What I think people like most about Jacob isn’t the fact that he is a hero, it’s his humanity.

Jacob, like all of the characters in the novels, is three (in some cases four) dimensional. They aren’t perfect. They have flaws, and they make mistakes, stupid mistakes, the kind that you or I make all of the time. Some people have grown so fond of a couple of the characters that I have actually been warned that I better not ‘kill them off, or else!’ This attachment doesn’t come from the fact that they are great at what they do, it is about the heart that the characters have, their moments of weakness and silliness.

We identify with characters that have some of the same foibles as us. It is a part of what makes all of us see the worth in others. I am glad that Jacob, Laya, Naomi, Judith, Protector, Gifu, and Eli have triggered this response in so many of you. Contrary to what you may think, I don’t believe it’s because I am a good writer, I think it’s because you are good people.

I am sending a special thank you out to some great people at Amazon KDP that went out of their way to help me recently.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone,

KM
