SENSES NOVELS – GENERATIONS

The Senses Novels deal with at world that has been devastated, and the worst is yet to come. It is an extreme situation and is loosely based on the events found in Revelations.

The idea that the end of the world is just around the corner seems to a recurring theme lately. War with rogue nations, terrorism, environmental disasters, space-borne events, and disease all loom. Or do they?

I like to read history. Not just the history we’ve all been taught, but the odd and the ‘secret’ history that most don’t bother with. I have yet to find a period when the events that I have listed did not look like they would destroy the people of that time.

War has been around since there has been anything to fight about. Terrorism has existed longer than outright war. Floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, when haven’t we had these? Disease has probably killed more of us than all the others combined.

Today we have weapons that can incinerate an entire city in the blink of an eye. The ancients must have believed such a thing possible. Here’s the description of Sodom and Gomorrah:

Genesis 19:23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.

Lot’s reaction before and after were not those of a man who didn’t believe that it couldn’t or wouldn’t happen.

The point of all of this is, every people, every generation has had it in their heads that theirs might be the last. I can’t tell you that this feeling hasn’t intensified over the last century, I haven’t been around that long. I can tell you that it felt a lot stronger in the early 1960’s than it does today.

Taking sensible precautions is always good, but I have to tell you that bomb shelters aren’t going to be much use. What would you come up to when it was all over? No, prepare for the things that could happen in your area. Are you prone to floods or tornadoes? How about fire or winds? Those are things that you can get ready for and do something about to protect yourself and your family.

Have a great weekend!
