SENSES NOVELS – FEAR AND LOATHING IN LA LA LAND?

First I am going to brag, I have been hitting in the top 100 Amazon Authors almost every morning lately. That isn’ the top 100 of a particular genre, that is the top 100 book overall. Which leads to an interesting question, where is Hollywood?

A recent article that I read indicated that movie production companies and Hollywood studios were buying up the rights to the indie books at a furious pace. While I will admit that I’ve had a couple of enquirers about the Senses Novels from direct-to-DVD firms, I have not heard a peep out of the big boys. This is interesting when you take into account that fact that I am adding anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 new readers every monthAs I say, it is interesting, but it isn’t all that surprising to me.

As you know, the Senses Novels are Christian fiction and even a little evangelisticHollywood fears and hates Faith Based Films (they even want to do away with that term.) The excuse is usually along the lines that they don’t make money and Hollywood is a business. While I won’t put the Senses Novels in the same league, I do wonder if movies like, “The Passion of the Christ”, “The Ten Commandments”and “Ben Hur” made money for their studios?

It’s true that there are no LGBT, atheistic or profanity laden roles in the novels, which I’m sure is also a factor. It’s also true that before I sold the movie rights to ANY of my novels, I would have a media lawyer go over everything. There are certain values and characterizations that I simply will not allow to have changed through the magic of Hollywood.

To be frank, I don’t care if the novels every become movies. While it would be nice to reach a greater audience, I’m very happy with how well the books are currently doing. That joy is due to you, my loyal readers, so I want to thank you for the part that you are playing. You encourage me, you spread the Word and I can’t thank you enough for that.

Take heart all, I am working steadily on book five!

Have a wonderful week, enjoy what’s left of Spring.
